SKILL-BASED CAMPS

MOTORS & MOTIONS CAMP

ABOUT MOTORS

The motor is a critical part of many moving machines. It is a basic component to understand engineering, specifically how a motor along with other mechanical components can create different motions a machine needs. Besides, understanding how a motor works will also extend the knowledge in engineering in the areas of electrical engineering and physics. The hands-on projects will be a great intro to learning about motors.

SKILLS LEARNED INCLUDE

  • Mechanical motions

  • Electromagnetic properties

  • Circuits

  • Engineering design process

  • Force and power

Next Camp: To be announced

Motor creates simple circular motion.

M3. Merry-go-round | Level 1

M4. Jeep | Level 1

Front-wheel drive vehicle with motorized axle.

M5. Rolling Robot | Level 1

Motor-powered gears with rolling motion.

M6. Tank | Level 2

Motor creates motion to move gears and belts.

3D PRINTING CAMP

ABOUT 3D PRINTING

3D Printing is one of the latest manufacturing technologies. Instead of taking materials away, 3D printing adds materials to the part being made. This technique reduces waste significantly. Not only it is more efficient, it is also more environmentally friendly. While coding is an essential skill to understand software, 3D printing is a skill that students can learn to gain knowledge in hardware, engineering and manufacturing.

SKILLS LEARNED INCLUDE

  • 3D drawing & spacial analysis

  • Geometry & measurements

  • Solid mechanics

  • Engineering design process

  • Materials science
